Performed at Victoria Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday June 8, 2008
Inspired by Acts 3:6

Martha:
Oh no… How am I going to get all this done?

Joey:
Martha, what’s wrong?

Martha:
I’m so overwhelmed!

Joey:
Overwhelmed? Why?

Martha:
My mom says that if I want to go to Alanna’s birthday party I have to do my homework AND mow the lawn! But the party is really soon!

Joey:
Oh… well is there anything I can do to help?

Martha:
PLEASE DO MY HOMEWORK FOR ME! IT’S ALGEBRA!

Joey:
Algebra and Mathematics I do not have, but what I have I give you.

Martha:
That sounds slightly familiar…

Joey:
It’s from Acts chapter 3. Peter said “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!”

Martha:
Oh, right! But Joey… I already can walk. What I can’t do is find the length of the hypotenuse of an isosceles triangle.

Joey:
Algebra and Mathematics I do not have, but I have I give you. And that is my lawn-mowing skills.

Martha:
You’ll mow the lawn for me??

Joey:
Yes, I will.

Martha:
Thank you! But… why would you do that for me? You really don’t like to mow the lawn. You said it’s boring, it’s hard work, the sun gives you a headache, it’s the opposite of playing a video game and it turns your shoes green.

Joey:
Don’t talk me out of it! I want to do it for you, to be more like the disciples in the bible.

Martha:
Thanks, Joey, I’m going to go do my Algebra right now! Bye!
