Silver and Gold have I none
Performed at Victoria Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday June 8, 2008
Inspired by Acts 3:6
- Martha:
- Oh no… How am I going to get all this done?
- Joey:
- Martha, what’s wrong?
- Martha:
- I’m so overwhelmed!
- Joey:
- Overwhelmed? Why?
- Martha:
- My mom says that if I want to go to Alanna’s birthday party I have to do my homework AND mow the lawn! But the party is really soon!
- Joey:
- Oh… well is there anything I can do to help?
- Martha:
- PLEASE DO MY HOMEWORK FOR ME! IT’S ALGEBRA!
- Joey:
- Algebra and Mathematics I do not have, but what I have I give you.
- Martha:
- That sounds slightly familiar…
- Joey:
- It’s from Acts chapter 3. Peter said “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!”
- Martha:
- Oh, right! But Joey… I already can walk. What I can’t do is find the length of the hypotenuse of an isosceles triangle.
- Joey:
- Algebra and Mathematics I do not have, but I have I give you. And that is my lawn-mowing skills.
- Martha:
- You’ll mow the lawn for me??
- Joey:
- Yes, I will.
- Martha:
- Thank you! But… why would you do that for me? You really don’t like to mow the lawn. You said it’s boring, it’s hard work, the sun gives you a headache, it’s the opposite of playing a video game and it turns your shoes green.
- Joey:
- Don’t talk me out of it! I want to do it for you, to be more like the disciples in the bible.
- Martha:
- Thanks, Joey, I’m going to go do my Algebra right now! Bye!
