Inspire by Ephesians 2:1-10

Martha:
Joey, have you ever wondered…

Joey:
Why the sky is blue?? I know the answer already! The sky is blue because of the atmosphere and light waves bouncing -

Martha:
Noooo, I was going to say have you ever wondered -

Joey:
Why kangaroos have a pouch? I already know – kangaroos are marsupials and they have a pouch to keep their young safe -

Martha:
Nooo! I was going to say have you ever wondered -

Joey:
Why we have leap years? Because it actually takes the earth 365 and a quarter days to go around the sun, so every four years we have one more day -

Martha:
No… I was GOING to say…

Joey:
Have you ever wondered why popcorn pops? When the kernel is heated, the moisture inside turns to steam, and it builds up until it explodes!

Martha:
Very interesting Joey… I was going to say, have you ever wondered -

Joey:
How it’s possible to have a “civil” war?

Martha:
No, have you ever wondered -

Joey:
Why there’s an expiry date on SOUR cream?

Martha:
No! Have you ever wondered -

Joey:
Why doctors call what they do PRACTICE!?

Martha:
No! Have you ever wondered -

Joey:
Would a fly without wings be called a WALK? Why the slowest traffic is called RUSH hour? Why they’re call APARTMENTS when they are all together? Why stuff sent by truck is called a SHIPMENT, and stuff sent by a boat is called CARGO?

Martha:
No – I -

Joey:
When a clock is hungry, goes it go back FOUR SECONDS?

Martha:
Huh?

Joey:
If a pig loses its voice, is it DISGRUNTLED? Why isn’t the number 11 pronounced ONETY ONE?

Martha:
That’s enough!! Listen, what I was GOING to say, was have you ever wondered what the meaning of life is? I mean, besides making ridiculous PUNS?

Joey:
Oh, that’s easy.

Martha:
This had better not be a pun…

Joey:
Some people travel all over the world looking for the meaning of life. Lots of people climb giant mountains so they can ask bearded wise men what the meaning of life is.

Martha:
…and YOU know the meaning of life? What mountain did you climb?

Joey:
I didn’t have to! All I had to do was turn to Ephesians.

Martha:
That’s it? What does Ephesians say about the meaning of life?

Joey:
It says “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Martha:
What does that mean?

Joey:
It means that the meaning of life is to do good works that God wants us to do.

Martha:
Really? Alright! That’s a pretty good meaning of life. Good works like what?

Joey:
Good works like helping people, feeding the poor, praying for people, giving things to people that need it, things like that.

Martha:
Cool! Well, if that’s the meaning of life, let’s go do some good works right now! My mom could use some help with the dishes.

Joey:
Let’s go – maybe she’ll make us cookies!
